So today I decided to see if I could get my char griller duo with firebox to work properly instead of buying a new smoker. I did the dryer vent mod and I made my own baffle. I will include pictures tomorrow. I also drilled and inserted 2 more temp gauges right at grill level. the baffle seems to be working for heat distribution left to right, but I cannot get any heat out of the damn thing now. I did a test run to season the new metal without any meat and I get up to 150 degrees on both of the grill gauges left and right and then it just hangs out there. I can't get anymore heat. I am at a loss for what to do now. My only idea is to drill holes in the baffles? From the fire box to the right my baffles go like this. 13"x8", 13"x6" and 13"x4". Is it possible I put the baffles down to low? I see a lot of people have their baffle lengths around 16". If I do decide to move everything up, what can I use to plug the holes I made? Is there something I am missing here, I am new to this and I am hoping its something simple. For maximum heat what should the firebox vent be opened to? I am sorry for all the questions, but I really want to make this work.

i helped my buddy with his and the baffel was too big so we had to cut it down . we did this while it was hot so we could see the change in heat as we trimed the baffel and the plate . it was hot to work with but once we got it trimmed to the size needed to get the smoker to the cooking temp his smoker works great , of course now he wants a bigger smoker !
