A friend of mine in Texas, from where we just moved, turned me on to this great site! I am really excited to take my smoking to new heights by learning from others who share a similar passion for this. About 8 years ago, I bought a New Braunfels (now Oklahoma Joe's) smoker with a fire box on the side and quickly fell in love with the science and art of smoking meats. In fact, when we moved from Texas six months ago to Chicago, I didn't even bring my propane grill along. (which I had not turned on in over 2 years) My favorite things to smoke are chicken, sausage, pork ribs and beef brisket. Today, I am about to fire up a boneless pork butt for the first time with some pecan wood and maybe throw in some applewood chips for additional flavor. Happy smoking everyone!
