Hello from just southwest of Chicago!!!

Hi everybody!!

My name is Marc and I've just started truly smoking the last 2 months. I've used wood chip packs in my grill but finally got the bug and bought a Master built Sportsman Elite propane smoker after buying Jeff's excellent book. I explored the mods and went with the 8 inch cast iron pan (works like a charm) and the Maverick ET-732 (it's awesome!!!).

Thank you all so much for the advice, you guys are spot on!!

I did my virgin run (after seasoning of course) with two whole chicken following Jeff's recipe. My daughters and wife are now believers and submitting requests!!

Sunday I'll be doing a pork butt and some stuffed jalapenos!!!

Anyway thank you all so much for the great info I've found all ready!!!!

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions Post it
and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is because their
are so many different ways to make great Q We all have our own taste.

We have an ”Articles” section that is full of great information about smoking to include a lot of recipes and instructionals. Check it out there is a lot to learn in there!

You might want to check out ”Jeff's Free 5 day E-Course”, it will teach you all the basics plus a whole lot more!

Welcome to the forums, Marc!  This is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Good luck with your Sunday smoke...be sure to show it off with some qview.  Just ask when you need help and someone here will have the answer.
