Introducing myself

Hi all,

I've been lurking for a little while. Mostly reading reviews and mods on smokers. I currently have a charbroiled offset that I don't use very often because of the babysitting aspect. I am going to buy a vertical gasser soon. I have appreciated the free flow of information here. Thank you all.

Welcome to the group , Pridetv. Hope you come to call this home for all your BBQ needs.

It saddens me that the "Baby Sitting" way of Smoking is going the way of "Set and Forget".

I feel that is where the fun and 'Comradery' of a gathering starts . The Socialism around  Smoking food  or Grilling on a Fire is (IMHO) part of our being and sets us apart from other Creatures.ROTF.gif

The World is getting too fast, as the Kingsford Commercials say, 'Slow down and Grill" or 'Smoke' if you will.

Have fun and .  .  .

Hey old school,

It's true about the old school way. It really is a pain in the ass to sit around for 10+ hours babysitting an old school pit. But there's something to be said for being the guy who does it! I have an offset that I use, and a mes 40 as well. With that said I can honestly say when you pull a rack of ribs off the offset and you bite in, and see that smoke ring, you get a different feeling of pride than you do when you pull them out of the mes. Not to mention you miss the charcoal flavor when using the mes as well.

My biggest problem is everyone wants to eat my food, but no one wants to sit around and babysit the smoker all day with me. That makes using the mes a lot easier.

Slow down and smoke! Love it!

welcome1.gifto SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
