Hello, I am Terry from Waco. I recently had bariatric weight loss surgery and the first rule after this surgery is start every meal with protein, protein, protein! So I am buying a smoker and getting into smoking my own foods. I have not yet bought a smoker, but I am leaning toward a gas smoker. I was really interested in the pellet smokers, then the electric smokers, but ultimately I am starting to think a gas smoker just has fewer elements to fail than the other types. I am not very handy, so I value simplicity.

My hope is to learn a lot from you guys prior to buying a smoker. Plus I hope to get some good instructions for cooking from you all. Thanks, Terry.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! Have some friends who have done the surgery too.  Good luck and wishing you success!

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
