Got  the refurb started on OLD Smokey last week. Cleaned up all the rust and ugly spots, repainted and repaired a very leaky door when the urge to smoke overcame us.

One Boston Butt brined for 2 hours,  and rubbed with Jeff's Rub, smoked for 4 hours Wrapped with grape jelly glaze for 4 more hours at 225 deg. 3 racks of Spare ribs rubbed with Jeff's Rub, glazed with Jeff's sauce using 3-2-1 method at 225 deg. 

Fantastic help from the forum to get awesome tasting, tender ribs on my first try along with  something new for tried and true pork butt.

Thanks guys and gals

( Now waiting on parts to completed refurb, but may have to yield to smoking urge again before completing the project.)

It is an original pre- 1993 OKla. Joe, prior to their being sold to New Braunfels, same basic rig as a Horizon 20" Ranger. Several of the original OKLa Joe guys are now at Horizon where they continue to build the heavy 1/4" iron rigs. I have talked to them and have ordered some new handles and wheels to finish my refurb. That 1/4" iron lasts a long time as you can see by this smoker. I traded 2 new "in the box" gas grills that I paid $130.00 for each for this smoker in 93- back then the smoker was running $1250.00 new, today they are $1950 at Horizon- probably the best trade I ever made.
