Came across  this smoker looks like a southern pride...thought it would be great for a small bbq joint :

Looks good, but can not really afford it...
Got to looking at some of the pics and noticed it had an auberins PID controller

So I get the bright idea to convert a 500 gallon reverse flow into a gas assisted set it and forget it.. Has anyone tried this or know all the parts I may need for the MOD???

Any help would be appreciated..

yes but that's BBQ blasphemy around these parts! well, you could always buy 2 of the biggest V burner kits for propane other wise you will need a pretty damn big heating electric element if using electricity.

Yes, it has been done.
Some commercial pits have a "log lighter" option that is basically the same thing.
If you build one yourself, get a gas valve similar to those used on gas furnaces or water heaters that will shut the gas off when no flame is present.

I know, I know,  Blasphemy you say.. but I have years, of stoking all night, and I cant sit at the restaurant all night, just looking for a cheaper set up to do a great job on what I already have... Thanks for the replys...
