Who Am I? Why Am I Here?

Hey Y'all! Hi my name is Phil. I live about 40 min NW of Minneapolis Minnesota. I have been smoking meat for about 10 years, but just recently really got into it. I use a Cajun Injector

electric smoker I purchased at Mills Fleet Farm

5 or so years ago, for around $160.00 apparently they do not carry it any more, that master built looks very similar. The Cajun injector smoker works well from 200-275 F, if you try to cold smoke in it, the heating up of the wood chips, greatly raises the temp in the box, which I recently learned is NOT GOOD, for snack sticks. Imam currently curing half a pork belly with some Jack Daniels in the cure, and honey for the sugar, which will be smoked with jack Daniels whiskey barrel smoke chips. The chips are made from old jack Daniel whiskey barrels, I purchased at Menards for $5 a bag.

I look forward to sharing recipes and experiences from all the smokers on here, possibly connecting with any one in my area, (if there is any).

Everyone feel free to shoot me a msg if you have any questions or comments.

Phil

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

I can't post a website link?? Such as the smoker I bought, or a recipe I may be using?

Hi Phil, and welcome aboard!  This is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  So many friendly and knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Just holler when you need anything, and someone here will have the answer.

I will echo what c farmer already suggested...for cold smoking in that electric smoker of yours, nothing works better than an AMNPS.  Check them out at A-Maze-N Products (sponsor's link at the bottom of the page).

Sorry, direct links to other websites are not allowed here.  The owner and the forum administrators do this to protect the sponsors who pay for the right to have their links posted to these forums.

Have fun!

The not posting of web addresses makes sense, when you think about it, I was just trying to cite my sources, and help people out, but I can see a lot more people trying to advertise for free, to bad the two cant be separated, pretty easily if you ask me, anyway, yes I just learned of the maze pellet smoker, is there a way to make my own saw dust, easily? I have plenty of saws, there is saw dust all over my garage.

@seenred, that hat come with a free bowl of soup?! Looks good on you, though.

And also no one got my title, "who am I? Why am I here?" I would post a link to the you tube video of it, if it Was allowed. sNL even had a funny bit on it.
