Hello all,
My name is Chris macharelli and I live in Watauga, TX. I’m a BBQ Novice and hope to learn a great deal from you guys! I know the very basics of BBQ and am familiar with the lingo for the most part. I have grilled on open flame for many years but have always been interested in low and slow over a true, clean wood burning fire. There is something very cool and appealing to me about not getting sleep, having your clothes reek of smoke, and meticulously attending a slow fire in the middle of the night to be able to serve your family lunch the next day.
A little about myself; I’m 30 years old, married and have a 2 ½ half year old son named Carson. I’m currently serving in the Air Force and have been for the past 11 years. I served 6 years active duty then decided to honorably discharge and serve the remainder of my career in the Texas Air National Guard. I have been with the 136[sup]th[/sup]AW in Fort Worth since 2007 and have loved every bit of it. I turn wrenches as an aircraft Pneudraulic mechanic on the C-130H. I have seen Germany, England, Iceland, Romania, Kuwait, Afghanistan (Twice), and Scotland.
Recently I graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a B.S in Aeronautics and as a result my parents bought me a good first novice smoker: The Kingsford Sierra Smoker. I have seasoned it properly and have 1 cook under my belt on it. I’ll post the pictures of the smoker and my first cook (2 four pound yard birds) smoked at 265 for 2 hrs with a simple marinade and rub.
Cheers,
Chris
