David, been smoking for a few yrs, love to cook and love to eat. nothing like seeing the look on friends and familys faces when the are enjoying some fine smoked meat :-)

 Finally got around to building my newest smoker

I am a heating and cooling contractor, so I added a little boiler tech to the smoker, the smoker is a 2 pass smoker, if you look you can see a weld mark about 1/3 up, there is a metal shelf going from the rear to with in 8 inches of the front. the fire box is in the center low below sheet, heat passes under it heats it up and it radiates the meat from the bottom , then the heat rolls around and passes over the meat and heads for the 3 rear vent that evenly release the heat out the top ( measured with a vilosometer)  I barely had the air damper opened and maintained a constant 220 for 9 hrs, very little wood used .

Hello rangerdave4 and welcome to the fun.  That is a GREAT lookin rig and you have put more than a little thought and effort into that one.  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  The trial and error method works well.  We will try to help you keep the errors to a minimum since we already made them for you.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions Post it
and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is because their
are so many different ways to make great Q We all have our own taste.

 

Nice smoker! If you have pics of the build we'd like to see them if you would share them in the smoker build area.

You should sign up for Jeff's Free 5 day E-Course, and it's great!  This is chock full of great information....no matter what your experience level might be!
