Rescue, restore, Respect 22.5 Weber OTS

Thread Starter

Found a 2000 22.5 OTS on Craigslist, I figure if it was in good shape it would be worth it. The pics look good so I went to check it out.

When I got there I was sad to find this Weber was abused. The lid had a concaved dent in it from the lid being drop on the handle. The kennel had 1/2 inch burnt on crude to the point the wiper was out of shape and unmovable.

I offered $20 because it was in bad shaped, when she said ok I gave her the money and ran.

I'm sorry I didn't takes more pics on the before condition because it did look bad.

Before pic of wiper before I took a brass wire wheel to it.

After a lot of cleaning, chipping and wire wheel she looking great. The dent in the lid popped out with a good hit with a rubber mallet.

I  loaded some charcoal to reseason her and do a test run on a low and slow cook.

After a few hours I decieded to see how she cooked.

She burned for 6 hours at 300 to 325 degrees.

Nice save! I'm a big Weber fan as well. Your wings look perfect!
