First time using the newly obtained Smoke Hollow grill.  I can tell the metal is thin and it probably won't last more than a few years, but it's a great design concept.  I especially like the fact I can raise the charcoal platform to right underneath the grill grate to get a super hot sear.  I also like that there is a gap area around the platform that automatically creates a cooler zone that I could move the food to.  This is the first time I've used charcoal in probably over 15 years, and it was awesome!  The steaks didn't take on too much of a smoke flavor I think because of the strong marinade (KC Masterpiece Steakhouse Marinade) but the hot dogs definitely

tasted better than just being done on a propane grill.

I would love to go back to Charcoal or Wood but got to get out of this Apt first...JJ

I feel ya Chef JJ,

We are temporarily living at a house out in the country, but will probably eventually move to an apartment.  I hate apartments because of all the rules regarding grills.  A lot of places won't even let you have them, or they have to be propane.  Some places only allow you to have them if you live on a bottom floor apartment.  When my wife and I got married, our main wedding gift from her parents was a gas grill.....well I ended up getting a new job and we moved into an apartment that didn't allow grills at all......so there my new grill sat for over a year not ever being used!

I agree that living in an apartment is a pain in some ways.

I made it a point to befriend the managers at every new place I went.   Once they got smoked chicken, or brisket, or ribs, the problem never seemed to happen.  However, I always took an apartment that was not too close to the front.
