Started my butt about an hour or so ago, rubbed last night. Trying to keep the temp at 250 but so far it's been a little low, 230's. This is the first time I've used charcoal, usually we have coals in our wood stove and just use that. I have a cheap Smoke N Grill bullet smoker that I found on the side of the road last year, no vents in it. So I have the door on the side lightly open. I but a nice layer of unlit coals in, then scattered 10 lit briquettes over the layer. Let me know what you guys think.

X2 what David said. I would take the first opportunity to add vents to that smoker.  Check out the forum on UDS builds, they typically use 3 pipe nipples with caps and a ball valve for vents.

Start your smoker with all the vents open and when you reach your target temp, start capping the nipple vents and use you ball valve vent to fine tune your chamber temp.

Thanks guys, After a few hours on the smoker I just took my first temp reading, the IT is 145. Thinkin about bringing it to 190 then foil, making pulled pork with it, what you guys think. Im gunna start looking at the UDS builds now!! Also looking for the charger for the camera, as soon as I find that pics going up.
