Hi everybody, after lurking for a few days I decided I was missing a lot by not being a member, so here I am.  I'm from Oklahoma in the US. I'm a total noob to smoking meats but bought a Master Forge electric smoker from Lowes(with 2 year warranty, lol) and have already done 2 butts and a few chickens. Had great success with both. Trying pork ribs today. I want to learn all I can about smoking and making my own rubs. The satisfaction level seems to be a little higher when you do it all yourself start to finish. Hope you all don't mind if I ask a lot of questions.

As for wanting to create your own Rubs , paruse the FN and look at some of thier posted blends...like Emeril's recipes... then with that idea in mind... get experimental.

Use cheap cuts, CSR's , Chicken , Short Ribs , etc. you'll have a Signature Rub before you know it ...
