Hello I have to say a HUGE thank you for all of the knowledge I have gleened from reading this site and to all the members whom take the time to share their knowledge of this wonderful art. I began dabbling in smoking meat about two years ago. Needless to say I am now a full blown addict. I started with the basic $89.00 brinkman Vertical. Through the wisdom of others on this site I was able to mod it into a rather effective and robust little smoking machine. I recently felt the need to upgrade to something with more space, so I ordered the Brinkmann Trailmaster 57" vertical smoker through Home Depot which was just delivered yesterday, I probably wont have the time to assemble it until this weekend, as I plan to use the hi temp RTV to seal it properly. I have noticed no other posts from any others whom have this unit, so I plan to report in on my experiences and required mods to get it working as effective and efficient as I can. Just would again like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone, and I am proud to finally join the community formally. I currently live in Michigan, about 50 miles outside of Detroit. Born and raised in Alabama, little town in Walker County. ROLL TIDE!

Hello Bama70 and welcome to the fun.  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  The trial and error method works well.  We will try to help you keep the errors to a minimum since we already made ‘em for ya.  Look forward to your input.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

If you didn't read the Terms of Service notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums. For example with rule #11......"Off Site Links are not allowed here at SMF".

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
