I have a chance to buy this new smoker.  The owner told me to take it home and cook on it a few times then shoot him an offer.  What do you guys think it is worth?  He said he paid $1500 for it a few years back.  He did tell me he did not want that for it.  I just want to shoot him a fair offer but not over pay either.

let me guess manual racks that do not slide, needs a new floor, probably new tires, assuming its not rusted out...and the trailer is in tow (it does not wobble being pulled down the road those go for 750 all day long here in texas.

however I have seen them as low as 500. The problem is, you may have to replace the floor, the tires, buy a spare rim and tire, add any extras you need, replace welds, or fix pinholes/rusted out spots, replace wheel bearings, etc you may be better off spending more on a nicer one up front...sometimes its hard to tell.

I have not fired it up yet.  I will this weekend to see.  I just brought it home last night and I work all week.  Thanks for the info Backwoods.  I was thinking in the $500 range.  No holes in it but I think I need to run a sander on it for some of the rust spots and give it a new coat of paint.  What is the best paint to use on a smoker.  This will be the first restoration job I do.

High temp paint works really good +1400 or +1200 degree paint. Found at any local hardware store you may check lowes because the paint on my smoker is a brush in type and looks good!

Maybe it's just me, but that stack looks awful narrow for decent draft. It looks like it has promise, but it needs some TLC.

I'll ask the obvious: Do you need a smoker on a trailer?

If you do decide to go ahead with it, look for paint offered by VHT. You can use it on both the smoking chamber (outside) as well as the firebox.

Haha does someone 'need' a smoker on a trailer? Lol. Does a bear shit in the woods?! Lol Jk. No remmy does have a point...like my father used to say its not owning something that expensive it's maintaining it. Since I now live in the city, I keep my smoker under lock and key in a covered even spot with another trailer THAT runs me $80.00 for storage. I don't have my tagged but if you do that's another expense, and tires, etc so forth. Jut something to think about.

Yes I do need one on a trailer.  I live in the country and do a lot of camping, fishing and hunting.  I will pull that thing to the campsites and load it with food for the weekend.  Plus there are some local competitions in the area I would not mind entering.  If I had to store it somewhere and pay for the storage I wouldn't even think about it.  Thanks for all the help guys.
