Just purchased my first true smoker today. I went with a Yoder offset made here in Kansas. This thing is built like a tank. I have grilled in the past but was ready for a change. Not sure what to cook first after I season my pit

Hello and welcome to the fun. Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share. If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice. Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there. The trial and error method works well. We will try to help you keep the errors to a minimum since we already made ‘em for ya. If I may suggest I always advise new folk to start with chicken parts and maybe burgers. That first smoke is about learning to control heat on YOUR smoker. Each 1 can be a little different. Also find the leaks and decide how you are gonna fill 'em. That helps with temp control. If that yard bird ain't completely done finish it in the oven. You gain knowledge and get some good eats on top. Have fun. Good luck. Keep Smokin!
