Very new to smoking i've been grilling all my life now i want to try somehting new. My wife got me a new charbroil vertical charcoal smoker. I started seasoning it today and i am starting to see that this is harder than it looks. My temps are hovering at 300 and my intake is completely closed. I think tommorrow i am going to try and seal the doors cause i can see smoke is leaking through there. Anyways awsome forum and i'll be surfing around for any info on this.

Hello , Cheech cool.gif. Glad to have you  in the Family and hope you come to call this home for all your BBQ needs.

I'm not a Charcoal - vertical smoker , but the theory is the same ... is your exhaust fully open , with all the smoke , excessive heat , the exhaust may be you problem. Surely sealing the door will help immensely.

Also , be patient in getting the Fire (or I should say - Ember Bed ) going. Let it burn and settle in to  a Bluish looking , light Smoke; then close with meat in and be patient again...biggrin.gif

Oh, and please stop by your 'Profile' and enter your location , you may have neighbors to share your Hobby biggrin.gif .

Have fun and as always . . .
