last year I made some earth boxes and didn't have very good results... I added off brand potting soil and some low cost fertilizer and place them on my deck where the summer was scorching hot in the direct sun light.. This year I removed the potting soil and fertilizer and replaced it with miracle grow potting mix and moved my boxes over to where the flower garden is and what a difference. I only planted two boxes to not knowing what to expect and every day I go to look I see growth... I planted these a few days before memorial day so its been about three weeks and I cant believe how they have taken off......I have 2 tomato plants, 1 squash, 1 cucumber in 1 box and 4 japs in my other box......all of these plants wee about 5 inches tall when they started

took some pictures of Mrs boykjo's flower garden

Thanks for looking

Joe

WOW..... Awesome Joe.....  I followed the directions in the tutorial.....  maybe I should have used miracle grow.....     I used rhody / azalea food because of the micro nutrients listed.....   I think I will add a liquid fertilizer to a watering can and do a little watering from the top of the box....    Next year, MG soil will be in the boxes....

Looks wonderful....I love Lilies!  Those are gorgeous!

We use "Peters" for a lq fertilizer on the house plants and some that are outside.  Turns the water blue and works great.

Those look awesome and doing very well. I've put a few veggies in containers this year to allow more room in the raised bed for Thai peppers and such. Yours look nice and deep, may go deeper next year myself. As luck would have it I used Miracle Grow thanks to Home Depot running a sale here...go figure, a wise choice by accident.

Another thing I noticed with the boxes is where the wick is located the plants are larger then where the is not a wick.. I was thinking of adding 2 more wicks so all 4 corners will wick water just below the plant. The only concern here is over saturation of the soil and tomatoes rupturing

It all looks awesome Joe.

Your earth boxes look better than mine. Mine is just getting over being drowend by all the thunder storms we have been haveing.big lots has the big bag of mirical grow organic for $9 here. I have been experimenting the clear toets work better. Do not know why.
