I welcome this opportunity to join the SMF community.  I have done many web site searches for hints and tips on many smoking and grilling topics and look forward to reading the forums. Since my wife and I love the taste of very lightly smoke flavored food, I have gradually transitioned to electric and propane use. I use wood to season my smoker and grill, but only occasionally use small amounts of wood during cooking. I smoke with a Smokey Mountain Series box smoker and have had good results with brisket, ribs, ham, turkey and pork roasts. I grill chicken, ribs, steak, burgers and summer vegetables on a Hamilton Beach grill which I consider the best grill I have ever used.  I have fried turkey in an oil fryer, but mostly use that fryer for country boils now that I have a Big Easy Turkey Fryer. I recently cooked a Boston Butt in the Big Easy (took about 3 1/2 hours for a 10 lb butt, taking it to 185 degrees.)  Absolutely delicious and ate it sliced and pulled with equally good results. Before slicing and pulling, I just grabbed the bone and pulled it out. Wow!

Love this kind of cooking and eating and am really looking forward to learning of your experiences.

Thanks to all for the welcome greetings and tips.  I have found that entering the SMF topic groups is like opening a bag of M&M Peanuts - I just can't stop sampling after one!  This is a great adventure and learning experience.
