Well I have a work potluck on Saturday and I happen to have friends coming over for dinner tonight, so I figured I give pulled pork a go. Yes, it's 3:30am and I just threw a picnic on the smoker, I'm going to feel like death tomorrow! Let's hope this baby is done by 6pm so I can rest and pull it for dinner.

The pork was 9 pounds before I trimmed off the cap, down to 8 pounds before throwing a rub on it. I used Jeff's rub that I've modified to my tastes: I add more cayenne, a bit more salt, and some curry powder as well. Then in the fridge for 12 hours.

Tomorrow I'll add a turkey to the smoker around 11am, pics to follow throughout the cooking process!

Bring it on!! i'll be watching as well. I'll be doing two butts tommorow for pulled which i'm good with in my mind, but a little intimitated by the 16 racks of St. Louis i'm doing on Saturday. That will be my first for that many. I'll post some pics in another thread when it's over. I realy appreciate this site and the efforts of everyone doing what they love to do. Reinhard

Alright, I promised updates. Temp is 175 after almost 8 hours, smoker is holding steady at about 240. I'm not saying it's going to be done anytime soon, but it's certainly going to be done before dinner! Bonus!

Getting a nice bark on her!

Turkey is going on in a few minutes, just getting her out of the fridge.

Be sure to  put the bird below the pig..... You do not want poultry dripping on pig or any other food as far as that goes....

Definitely!

The little thermometer is just an oven thermometer you can buy at any grocery store. $5 or so. I really need a nice wireless thermometer that does both at the same time!

Butts Looking good! The turkeys going to get some good love from the pork drippings!!

If you have an iphone the iGrill therm works great. If not the Mav ET-732 which you can get from A-MAZE-N is the great too.

Well they say pride comes before the fall, ha! Pork stalled out on me, probably because I was thinking it was going to be ready for dinner! It's 4pm and it's at 181 degrees. I wrapped it in tinfoil (should have done this earlier!) and I'm hoping it hurries up a bit! Fat chance!
