Amazing pork spritz

After cooking for a while in the backyard and at competitions I decided I needed another level of flavor for my pork especially the ribs. I have won awards with my PP but not with the ribs. I see a lot of teams spritz there ribs so I decided to give it a try. After fooling around for a few weeks I came up with something that I thought was good. Turned out to work because it took 5th in ribs in my last comp. Let me know what you all think.


1/2 Cup Apple Juice

1/2 Cup Apple Cider

1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar

1/4 Cup Grenadine ( or other cherry flavor syrup)

1 Tablespoon Imitation Butter

2 Tablespoons of your favorite Bourbon

Small pinch of your rub. ( I have listed what I have been using below)



1 bottle John Henry Pecan Rub

1 bottle John Henry Sugar Maple

1/2 Bottle Dizzy Dust

Always interested in something new to try. I'll try out that spritz, however i dont think i have ever seen those brand names around here as far as rubs. Thanks for the idea. Reinhard

Sounds like a good spritz! I love the John Henry Pecan Rub. I spritz occasionally with a mix of Apple Juice, Apple Cider Vinegar and Capt Morgan's.

Curious as to why the imitation butter as opposed to real butter?  Is it due to the smoke point of real butter?

Imitation butter is easier to get thru the spray nozel.
