Sealing cooking chamber

Thread Starter

I need to seal cooking chamber on my char-griller, and I've got a lot of ideas looking through SMF, but was wondering if anyone has used fiberglass tadpole tape. I found some here... http://www.firesleeveandtape.com/high-temperature-heat-flame-fire-resistant-fiberglass-tadpole-gasket-seal-tape.html

that should work...just make sure you clean any and all grease off the mounting surface and use a really good quality high temp food safe adhesive

I use the red RTV Silicone, I Pam the chamber where the door will meet, put the RTV on the underside CLEANED portion of the lid, close and let dry. made a perfect seal and has been holding since.

Is the Pam to keep the silicone from sticking to the box or to clean it?

No , to keep it from sticking to the other side of the door...SaranWrap works too .biggrin.gif

Ok.  Just wanted to make sure I understood the process before I wasted my time/money.
