Hi everyone!

I'm new-ish to the smoking world and when I found this forum I knew I'd entered into the perfect place to learn more about the craft. I'm going to be moving into my first house soon and already have long term plans to build my own smokehouse.

What I cannot claim is that I'm a pro at the basic craft, so before I sink the money into a larger capacity smoking area, I want to give each major cut and technique a shot. I've been smoking out of a vertical canister style eletric cheapo from Wal-mart and aim to tackle brisket next. Perhaps this weekend after looking at pictures on this site!

I'm also really intrigued at the idea of building an automated sensor/adjustment type of arrangement in order to flex my nerd skills a bit. We'll see how far I get into that :P

Welcome Zac,

Sounds like you have a good approach to getting your long term plan put together. I may incorporate the BBQ Guru into the smoker I'm planning, there are some good reviews here on that unit. My great grandfather was a Zack from Fontana Village, you live in a very pretty area.
