Hello everyone,

While my smoking experience isn't vast, I did have an old Masterbuilt propane vertical smoker for a fews years.  After flames burned through the gas line twice, I decided to use charcoal as a heat source for a couple of years instead of the propane flame thrower. Unfortunately, that unit has seen better days and it's now officially retired.

On Sunday, I ordered a Masterbuilt Electric New Gen 40" without doing a whole lot of research.  Normally, I research stuff like this for weeks, but it makes my wife crazy when I do that.  As a "favor" to her, I just pulled out the debit card and got it over as quickly as possible.  Anyway, the price was good on Amazon; I hope I don't get a lemon.

Earlier today, I spent a little time getting familiar with the forums and I'm pretty sure I can learn a lot from this group.  I was also surprised to see we also have a few home brewers in the crowd.  Brewing/grilling/smoking will definitely take up a good part of my summer.  I hope my wife can handle the yard work.
