Hello all,

glad to have found this forum, clearly well maintained with great contributors.

I live in Freeport IL and only occasionally smoke using a low cost Brinkman that I got around 1990.  It's not much, but, I have had good results.  the water pan burned out, so, I line it with heavy foil before a smoke.  Oh, and a snowplow smashed it up against my hangar when I had it out at the airport.  I got it back pretty much round again and still smoking !

I was leaning towards a masterbilt electric, but, I dont know, my inclination in life is why buy when you can build and that applies to a lot of things in my life.   So, I think I am going to read up on here and see what I can learn and who knows, maybe create my own smoker.  have to see how that goes  !

I probably wont post much, except for dumb questions for a while.  :)

cheers,
