New Smoker from the damp PNW

Thread Starter

Hi all, My name is Mia. I've been smoking for almost two years. I built my smoker from spare parts DIY. The base is an old cast iron fireplace insert that I added two propane fueled elements to. The heat and smoke rise up into a recycled oven (for the meat) from an electric stove which has a stainless steel sink upside down on the top. That gives me an upper shelf and more room for hanging meat. My son welded a flue/damper for me that goes out the back. The whole thing is encased in bricks from a chimney we tore down. I put ports in for thermometers and meat sensors. It's pretty much all scrap but I had great fun building it. It holds the heat very well and the temperature is very stable.

I live in Seattle, the other Washington.
