Hello, my name is Sue and I live in Central NY. I've been BBQ'ing for about 3 summers, so still have a lot to learn.
I started off with a Char-Griller offset smoker, which I modified. It worked well, but I got tired of having to seal it up with aluminum foil. It is now relegated to just grilling.
Last summer I attended a BBQ class by Chris Marks, and ended-up buying a Good One Open Range smoker, and have no regrets. I was worried it would be too small, but you really can fit a lot of meat into it.
Most of the techniques I use come from trial and error, internet research (I always check this forum first!), the class I took from Chris, and my faithful viewing of BBQ Pitmasters. I'm looking forward to further refining my technique and trying out new recipes with all the wonderful information in this forum. Here's some pics of some of my BBQ.
This was my first brisket flat (I haven't been able to find one this thick since then)
