Hello, my name is Sue and I live in Central NY. I've been BBQ'ing for about 3 summers, so still have a lot to learn.

I started off with a Char-Griller offset smoker, which I modified. It worked well, but I got tired of having to seal it up with aluminum foil. It is now relegated to just grilling.

Last summer I attended a BBQ class by Chris Marks, and ended-up buying a Good One Open Range smoker, and have no regrets. I was worried it would be too small, but you really can fit a lot of meat into it.

Most of the techniques I use come from trial and error, internet research (I always check this forum first!), the class I took from Chris, and my faithful viewing of BBQ Pitmasters. I'm looking forward to further refining my technique and trying out new recipes with all the wonderful information in this forum. Here's some pics of some of my BBQ.

This was my first brisket flat (I haven't been able to find one this thick since then)

Welcome aboard, Sue! Glad you joined us. You've found a great place to learn and share ideas. Lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks here who really enjoy helping one another.  I'm curious, I don't know anything about a Good One Open range, can you post a pic?  And just ask when you need help and you'll get plenty.

Thanks everyone! Here is a picture of my Open Range. This is the "Reverse lid" model. So the firebox is in front here, and the top/back is the smokebox and the lid opens in the opposite direction. So I can park it up to the window of my deck and keep track of the pit temp while I'm inside watching TV.

There are three "spinner" vents, two on the firebox and one on top of the smoke box that you turn to adjust the airflow, and an internal damper between the firebox and smokebox that is also adjustable.

Very nice Sue!!!!

Welcome to the forum.  I see you understand our rules about Q-View so I won't preach.

Great job on this by the way.
