Not the greatest price, but I guess they're trying to kickoff grilling season early.

I may pick me up some, but I'm still holding out for the big Memorial Day sale that usually hits.  Thanks for passing the info along.

Yeah, I agree with Bruno.  Don't go to crazy because Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor day, the price will drop to something like 5.99 for a double bag.

Our Costco finally got the double bags of Kingsford Competition in (one Pallet) $17.98 for the 38#'s. I've never seen the price below $13.99 here in Central Oregon for Kingsford blue double bags.

I'm down to my last bag of charcoal.  I'm going to pick up 2 or 3 sets of those 20lbs.  I do a lot of smoking.  That should hold me over until Memorial Day.  I just can't go back to that dang Masterbuilt.  Once you've had WSM, you'll never go back!

Sorry to go off topic but I am in the process of modding a brinkmann ecb. What is the differance in the kingsford and lump charcoal.

C farmer: I'm no expert, but I've heard that lump charcoal burns hotter and faster, so it might not be good if you're trying to keep low temps for a long time. I've aslo heard that Kingsford tends to burn more uniformly (especially better when using the Minion method).

But, be forewarned: I pass a Home Depot on my way home from work, so I stopped there today, and bought the two-pack for $12.88. Didn't notice the huge tear on one side that was covered very poorly with packing tape until I got home and found a mess in my trunk!

Figures. A whole pallet full of charcoal, and I happened to pick up the damaged one! I've had that sort of thing happen before, so I should have known better.

I think Lowes had it for something like $7.94 or $8.94 for the twin pack of 20# bags last year.

Lump is real wood, no chemicals or additives and you are correct, it does burn hotter, as far as faster, I haven't burned enough of it to answer that one.  I like the charcoal taste that briquettes give off to an extent, but at times it can be overbearing, with lump, you won't get that since it's real wood.

Thanks for the info. I hope with the mods I can control temps and burn time
