Having seen several other new members instructed to check in at roll call, I thought I'd better start here. Just got a smoker (the ups gal just left!) so this weekend will be my first smoke. A friend got me interested in BBQ by constantly smoking something or other and making me eat it. After the first taste it wasn't hard to get me to try his latest effort. I got tired of waiting begging for food so I bought a smoker. I'm starting with an electric masterbuilt in hopes that the temp control will be a little easier for a novice. I've been lurking around the forums for a while to get ready and have already learned a great deal. Looking forward to being part of the community!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Had a softball game so I haven't even had time to put the smoker together yet. Did read the manual  and it looks easy to assemble and pretty straight-forward to operate. My son will be home from college in a couple weeks and I'm planning on smoking up some ribs and maybe some pulled pork. I'm headed to the other forums to find some recipes for rubs and sauces. Wish me luck.
