Hey guys,

I was at my parents house today to look at my grandpa's old grinder to see the model it was and what shape it was in.  Have any of you heard of General Slicing?  I looked it up on the net and found that it is now called General Food service.  They do still make grinders and look to be commercial high end.  The worm, plates and blades are in rough shape as my dad had it kept in the garage for the last 15 or so years without using it.  I would like to buy some new parts for it and not really sure where to start looking for them.  We couldn't find the manual for it surprisingly as my grandpa never threw out manuals.  I believe it might be a #12.  I haven't measured the diameter yet as I assumed I could find a manual online.

My grandpa and I would push out 40-80 lbs of fresh polish sausage, breakfast and other sausage over a weekend back in the day.  I figured it has to be better than my KA w/Grinder attachment.  Any old timers (no offense) on here that may have any info on them? Anybody else know of a good place to look for plates, worms, etc?  I believe there is only one notch on the plate instead of two that I have seen online.

Thanks in advance!!

Sent an inquiry to the company for information on a worm auger, plates, specs and manual, will let you know what answer I get!  Is the outer ring still good and the threads undamaged?  That is usually what happens with older grinders.

Thanks Pops!!  Where did you find their contact info?  Any time I clicked on their "Contact Us" link, nothing came up.  I really appreciate it.

As for the outer ring/threads...I believe they looked fine.  He had the outer ring cover still on the threads so those should be good.  My dad is a machinist and has all the proper tools to clean/fix the threads if needed.

Pops,

I just went back to the site and now it works!  The site must have had issues earlier.

Thanks again.  I am interested in seeing what they have to say!!

Pops,

I decided to call them and this is what they told me.  "General  Slicing went out of business 5 years ago.  The  Legacy companies purchased their current product lines, but not the discontinued products and thus, they have no information about my grinder"

Oh well.  I found that the distributor where my grandpa purchased the grinder from is still in business.  I will stop by there to see if they can match the components for me.

Thanks for making the effort to reach out to them for me.
