Just purchased my first smoker. Picked up a Master Forge two door,  I did enough research to know that I need to seal the doors so bought some 3/8 rope seal at the same time.  I just finished seasoning the smoker and saw smoke leaking for the doors. I do have the handle latches at the loosest position and plan on pushing them back to make a tighter seal.  I did a boling water water calibration on the door thermonator and found it reading 60° high, but when I seasoned the smoker the highest temp I could get was about 260°. I will be picking up another thermonter soon.  Any reccomendations?  I will be attemping a pork picnic shoulder tomorrow for pulled pork.  I'll let you know how it turns out.

Welcome aboard, Grinder! Glad you joined us. You've found a great place to learn and share ideas. Lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks here who enjoy helping one another.  Good luck with that new Master Forge.  You definitely need a better therm than the stock one.  Lots of folks on these forums (including me) use Maverick dual probe digital therms.  You can see them over at A-Maze N Products.  Here is the web addrss:http://www.amazenproducts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=MAVET-732 . Just ask when you need help and you'll get plenty.

I would ask about more mods on that part of the forum.  You will get answers quicker there,  I am not familiar with that smoker...sorry.

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
