I have an offset bbq/ smoker for the last 15 years, the longer I have it the less it gets used, too much time tending the fire to make it worth it for all but special occasions.  I have been on and off on getting on the pellet grill bandwagon, less "cooking maintenance" more time to enjoy other activites such as get out of the cold spring weather, with all the slow smoking rewards.

I am at the 95 % that I will pull the trigger on a rec tec grill within the next month or so, ( still need to convince she who shall not be named).

I got on this web site to check out information, reviews, opinions, concerns before I spend 1000$ to cook in some thing other than my old smoker, the stove or the oven, oh and a George Foreman grill. I expect to post my results this summer as soon as can, right now my biggest concern is getting wood pellets, no use in having a nice grill with no fuel to burn.

Thanks for letting me in the club without having the proper toys or tools.

Wife and I got a pellet grill the January before last, one of the best purchases we ever made. My wife works from home and uses the grill more than I do... honestly it gets used more than our oven, very easy to operate and the meals off them are outstanding!

Welcome, subtledanger, from Missouri.  I do not know much about pellet grilling or smoking, but would like to see pics of what you get.  I just got the Brinkmann TLE.  Making the suggested mods to it this week and should cure it by the weekend.  We're expecting 5-10 inches of snow Saturday though, so maybe next week...

Welcome aboard, subtledanger! Glad you joined us. You've found a great place to learn and share ideas. Lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks here who enjoy helping one another.  Good luck with your quest for a pellet rig.  I have heard good things about the rigs from Green Mountain Grills.  I've been thinking about putting their Daniel Boone model on my wish list.  Just ask when you need help and you'll get plenty.
