Not in a SFB smoker with tuning plates.... there is air flow at grate level because of the gaps in the tuning plates....
Will your tuning plates extend from the sides of the CC to fully seal in the air flow..... and allow air flow only through the adjustable gaps....
This type is smoker is very scientifically designed and variations from calculated designs won't work......
