I have been relatively happy with my GOSM, and even happier once I added the AMNPS. But I still needed better performance from both. The Burner would suck the air away from the AMNPS and put it out, then I added a foil tent and cut 2 - 1 1/2" holes underneath the AMNPS, which worked better, but would encapsulate the AMNPS, and eventually start the pellets on fire.
And try as I may with Aluminum foil to make a drip tray on the bottom around the burner, it would always drip grease from the legs, making a mess.
I got to the point I was thinking about getting a bradley dig smoker to bet rid of the bulk of my frustrations, but I thought I'd give it one more try, and see if I could find some mods to better the performance.
So, I was looking through the mods to see what others have done, and found some good ideas to run with / improve upon.
With the holes already in place on the bottom right side of the smoker, I added a hood / tray for the AMNPS; that worked like a champ, next was the drip tray. with the limited space between the water and the first rack, I really could not get a try through the door and have enough slope to drain off the grease into a reservoir. So, I used what was already there, and made side deflectors to drop all the grease in the water pan. So far, it is working great, I have a chicken smoking now, and all is performing fantastic
