Flood and Drain System

Here's a flood and drain system I put together not long ago. Here it is with a couple trays in it

The nutrients are in the blue drum below

When the timer come on a pump in the bottom of the barrel pumps the nutrients into the tray through the hose toward the front and the other hose is a drain line

Here it is filling

Looks cool. Seen a sweet one on you tube that had fish in the bottom and crops on top. So it made a full meal it was made out of one of them big white square fertlizer containers that have the cage around it.

Never thought about using that method for seed flats.  I should have all the parts for one in the basement.  How often do you cycle the flow to the flats?

Actually the more I think about it, I'm not sure if it's an ebb & flow setup or a aeroponic system.  I guess I need to drag all the parts from storage and see what I actually have.

Thanks!!!!

Dave I had it coming on three times a day but just set it for four times a day since the forecast says warmer and more sunny days.

Dward....I think that would classify as a Hydroponic set up....But then anything that uses water to grow in would be a Hydro....Michael tho..was talking about a Aquaponic system with the fish in the totes, feeding the plants...I have always been fascinated with this kind of farming..just don't have the time OR money...
