Hey all,

My name's Nick, and I'm about 30 minutes south of NYC in NJ suburbia. I currently don't have a smoker, but have been researching electric ones for the past two weeks with much frustration trying to balance price, longevity and performance. Fortunately I stumbled on SMF and the huge MES new generation issues thread. You guys and gals saved me a potential major headache and $$$. I'm currently staring at the checkout page on a Smokin-It #2 for myself, which will probably lead to a second #1 or #2 purchase for my Dad. We caught the smoking fever a couple weeks ago after having one hell of a brisket that my cousin-in-law prepared in a Brinkmann vertical unit he got on clearance from Amazon. I'm looking forward to smoking just about everything from meat and seafood to cold smoking cheese, and trying my hand at making jerky.

See you all in the forums!
