My wife is going out of town with her mom for the weekend so it's just me, Trevor, and the smokers....what to do, what to do.

Thought I would feed my father-in-law and the wife's great uncle.  I originally planned ribs but got started too late.  So while in the market I found this wisp of a brisket....a whole 2.5 pounds and thought, what the heck, I can get that thing done by 5:00 p.m., I'll give it a shot.  

So here we go...

Now we wait...at this writing the IT is 84 and the smoker temp is 230...time for a beer!

LOL!!!  Yeah, I know, I know....

I was looking for something that wouldn't take all night so I could feed the old men next door - and that looked perfect!

What can I say...

Probably won't be enough for a sammich when I'm done.
 
At the three and a half hour mark....and even this member of the IBTC is stalling!

It's gonna be good when it's done...but the old men won't get any tonight...maybe I'll fix them some biscuits in the morning.
 
Nope!  After 7 hours this little booger finally reached 200* F!!!!

F for what the ...

Who knows...the MES is by far not my favorite smoker and I have yet to find the perfect place to put the pit probe!

Anyway, here are the final few pics of the Q-View!  The brisket was juicy and tender...very delicious!!!  Just took too darn long!!!!!  Give me a pork butt any day!

Bill.....you cracked me up!  IBTC!!!!  Omgoodness.  Looks yummy to me sweetie...but for the kiddo....where are the veggies??  You men!  When Mom is away from home...feed the kidlets something green too!

Veggies...hmmm....heard that word somewhere before....wait!  I got it!!!  Isn't Mac and Cheese a veggie substitute?  Oh, no that's meat...ah well...maybe tomorrow when we have the ribs.

I might have had a few too many, but fun and food was had by all...I'll tell you, I've cooked for many of my friends over the years, but for some reason, good ole' BBQ gets the compliments a flying.

...and yes, in my house, beer is a food group!

P.S. I'm down to drinking only about once a week, I've cut way back after Halloween (had a reversal of intake that I might never forget)...I also adjusted my diet, to exclude processed food like bread, chips, cereal, etc...I almost exclusive eat my proteins, vegetables and fruits. I'm down from 226# to #195...I should mention that I'm a gym rat too (get me drinking, some day I might post a picture of a bodybuilding show I did back in 2000).
 
With Beer you get to drink your Bread (Carbs)....that is our story and we are sticking to it!

Well alrighty then.....when I go to the store to buy briski's or meats.....and VEGGIES.....I will make sure I get more Liquid bread too.  We are almost out. LOL
