Greetings everyone!  My name is Jonny. I've been lurking on here for a while and finally decided to say hi and to start picking your brains for my upcoming projects.  I love DIY stuff.  I've built my own kegerator for my home brew, i've built my own lagering chamber, and I've built and tweaked the "Alton Brown" clay pot smoker.  So... now I  am ready to upgrade to a larger outdoor hot smoker.  Here is what i got so far:

As you can see its an old gas Magic Chef oven.  I'm planning on gutting the interior of all the gas components and wiring some electric components into it.  So... any suggestions?  Ideas?  I'm still a little new to the whole smoking thing so I just want to do a hot smoker.  Down the road I can rework a larger smoker that can be hot or cold.  There is a lot of info on the site and I've done my best to go through some, but i still dont have a solid game plan.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Once i get a game plan i will start a build thread and show you all the progress.  Thanks for looking!

thanks everyone for the warm welcome!  Well I'm slowly but surely getting a game plan.  I found a great DIY on a duel temp probe build so i can take readings from the meat and the oven.  i also have a game plan for the construction... I'm planning on building some legs with casters so its movable and raising it off the ground about a foot.  I will be constructing a smoke box underneath the oven for either cold or hot smoking that runs off of a hot plate.  I think it will be a fun project.  Any other ideas/suggestions?
