I'm doing my first beer can chicken and was wondering a ballpark cooking time per pound? We have a 1 and a half year old and he becomes a bear if he eats too late. Lol. Just want to plan for a ballpark time. I know it'll be done when it's done though. Appreciate any help.

You have to monitor the temp but I find that at approx 325f it takes 2.5 to 3hrs for a 4lb bird. After 2hrs tho there's no need to keep it on the smoker if you want to finish it off in the oven or on a grill.

Thank you. It's been in 2.5 hours and its probably a half hour out. It's looking really good. Once I get used to posting in forum I'll start posting pics. It's only my 3rd smoke so far and the help is much appreciated.

Regs your in good company here.   But like everyone says

I usually smoke mine around 250.  I figure around 4 hours.   I've usually got other stuff going with it.  I strike a happy medium on temp.   Always put the birds on the bottom if you smoke them with other stuff.
