Sir, you have a nice-looking hole. (Sorry, couldn't resist) Actually that is a fine cut. What size are you cutting, how many, and what will be your method for making an airtight passage from inner hole to outer hole?
The one on the top is 4". I intend to make a pipe out of the $30 a can formula I buy for my son. Rivet to the inside of the box will a silicone sealant. That is if drilling holes isn't terrible (which it is) I'm also going to drill 1 1/8" holes in both sides with ball valves to open and close if vents are needed.

Before you drill your side holes, make sure you've got the appropriate hardware lined up first. My plan was to use 1 1/4-inch black pipe, then use fittings that would snug up, airtight, to the inner and outer walls. Simple, right? Well, black pipe's diameter is smaller at the ends, so it only threads on so far. So the simple solution was to add washers, right? Wrong, I couldn't find washers big enough to fit on the pipe, so the fabricator has to make me some.

Yes, our projects are progressing similarly. But I'll be stalled for a while, until the welder gets done with some stuff.

Keep up the good work. Don't let The Warden get too much supervision on your project!

I found 1" washers. The black pipe I got was 5" which was a guess while at the store. I also got some conduit lock washers to tighten it all up. I haven't put it all together yet, but yes, seeeeeems simple enough. Lol.

Here's another picture of my hole... a new blade does wonders.

I put some black on my door, I also riveted a small sheet of steel on the inside of the bottom since it was a little rotted. All is good now I'd say.

My hinges we emblems needed some love. I couldn't get all that dang green paint off them emblems so I'm going to paint them some other color... any ideas?? I already have red and blue paint.

Here's the black pipe and fitting I'm going to use as vents

There's the progress so far. The warden said its time to be done playing for tonight.

I wasn't sure if this was safe for viewing at work.  I wasn't sure which hole you are refering to.

Looks like it's coming along.  (I wish my garage was that neat and clean.)
My mom always told me to put my toys back when I was done playing with them, lol.

Yeah, lol... My exhaust hole... I guess that doesn't clear much up either.

I'm still out of town right now. The guys at work said my metal dropped off at the shop the other day. I ordered a 4" cast iron damper to put inside the 18" long exhaust stack I bought. I thought it would be cooler looking than the stuff on alliedkenco or sausagemaker. I didn't read much on the stack but hopefully it is 4" inner diameter so the damper fits inside. If not ill just have to fab one I guess :/ lol.

That's a lot closer to how my garage looks. My wife gets PO'd when I call her a "hoarder"

, but it's not far off the mark.

I shoved some insulation in the door today and laid down the sheet across it. I'm actually pretty pleased with myself seeing as the first piece of metal I ever cut was the piece I put in the bottom of this door. Next I will probably cut the hole for the burner in the bottom. I can't decide. Sorry for the lack of updates this month!

It's true! I'm not dead. I did something on my smoker. I've been super busy doing what seems like nothing. Here's some progress photos from today.

It seems only one of many of my pictures uploaded. iPhone fail I guess. My wife asked me if this thing was going to be done by my sons birthday in July so I think that means I have permission to finish it?
