After doing some light reading on this topic... I want to make sure that I have all the facts right!

1. Wash out the everything, inside racks with soapy water.

2. Rinse out with clean water let it dry.

3. Spray everything with PAM

4. Fire it up and let it burn for a couple for hours.

Am I right so far? My question is do I burn wide open on high the whole time, and do I add chunks and if so how much should be added?

Thanks!

fire it up at 300 or so to cook the pam on the walls... then add smoke.. to provide more seal and "break in"....   You got it.....

Now smoke something and take plenty of Q-View for us to oogle ...     Dave

Thanks Dave!

Is there a certain number of chunks that I should add or is 3-4 good enough? Should I do a burn until those chunks are gone?

J, I would add only 1 chunk at a time.... You are speaking of 2x2 type chunks ???   If you have 2 or more chunks, and they get too hot, you will have a fire.... It takes 2 pieces of wood to make a fire...  1 chunk will smolder.... At least that is my experience...  1 chunk will provide plenty of smoke and last for an hour or so....  maybe more...  Dave
