Nebraska - Go Big Red!
I have some spare ribs that are two large to fit in the little barrel smoker I have. I tried to tell my wife that meant I need to get a bigger smoker but she seemed not to agree. I am looking for any ideas as to hot te gt them in the smoker. Is cutting them a  half pre cooking cool or is that a bad idea? Thanks for any help.

I cut them in half all the time to fit in my MES 30. Doesn't hurt anything

I can't fit a full rack in my Landmann GOSM because it's the narrow version.  My solution is to cut them in half and so far I can't tell a difference.  Another option is to spiral the rips and stand them on end like I used to in an ECB.  Only bad part about this is you can't sauce them if that's your thing because it wants to just drip off.

Current setup with half racks:

My old setup with coils.  Notice the skewers to hold them and that the meat never touches itself or another rack (it's close here).

Cutting in half is no problem, did it all the time in the BGES. I personally would not pre-cook them though, just 3-2-1 or 2-2-1 them as you normally would after they are cut to fit.

Sure you can cut them in half. However, if you had a bigger smoker it would save you all that extra work  :)  !

( Just tryin to help you out!)

I'm with Mike.  I think if we put our heads together we can get you a new smoker!!!

We can even make your wife think it was her idea, if we pitch it right!

Tell your wife that best Valentine's Day present that she can give you, is letting you get a new smoker.  Giving your wife roses and diamonds as you are making this comment also helps.

Worse case you can be like me and get really frustrated with your old smoker and she tells you to buy a new one. (a little swearing, kicking and a small mood change goes a long way with this one)
