So the wife told me yesterday that she was talking with the wives of a few of the guys (cops) I work with and decided that we should all hang out this weekend. I, the cook in the family, was debating what to make, and saw JJ's pulled pork sammiches, and was inspired and well, really hungry.
So I swung by wally world and grabbed a 9lb butt, and fixings, get home, throw tougether a batch of JJ's mild rub and when I open the cryovac packaging on the butt it looks like a frankenbutt - two different pieces joined by a strip of sinue and fat. Oh well, so I clean it up, rub it and its on the smoker now. Gonna foil and at the stall with JJ's foiling juices and then stuff in the cooler till dinner.
I mentioned that we're having Dutches beans and Slaw too, right? oh, well we are. Its a SMF dinner!
I hope the jacked up butt doesnt hinder the cook. I just kinda stacked part A on part B as it would have looked otherwise (fat cap up) and am hoping for the best. Part of me really wonders If i shouldn't either rapid thaw another butt and throw it on too, or run to the store and grab another, just incase this one is goofy.
What do you guys think?
Thanks,
David
PS, as always `cue view to follow.
