I just received a Masterbuilt Electric smoker model 20070409 for Chirstmas. I have never smoked anything, but really want to learn how to do this. I have grilled many things but never smoked. Looking forward to all the helpful recipes, tips, ideas and everything else. Looks like tons of information on this site. Thanks.

You will find plenty of info here!

A few extra tools will make things a lot easier for you as you embark on your new found habit. My first recommendation would be to get the AMNPS for your MES30, it is a smoke generator that uses either pellets or sawdust. A myriad of flavors are available, and you will see it talked about a lot on this forum. The next is a good quality thermometer that can be monitored remotely, a lot of folks here love their Mav ET-732. It's a very nice unit. I have both of these tools in my kit, and they are worth every penny. Both can be had for under $100, here the store that sells them http://www.amazenproducts.com/. The owner also happens to be a member of this forum, and his customer service is legendary.

Good luck, enjoy your new toy!
