Live in northern CA, and just purchased my first smoker...Traeger. I'm known as a really good cook but feel so lost when it comes to smoking. My challenge is knowing how to really smoke not just grilling with smokey flavor. Find recipes that don't really gear towards long slow smoking...where do I learn how to "really" smoke?

Youtube is where I started. I didn't have any friends that smoked when I started out so I went to Youtube and googled the hell out of methods and recipes. The thing about smoking is that it takes a while to get a technique down because it takes so long to smoke, but it sure gets addicting once you get your first some ring. Then you want another one.  Stick with it. It's fun. Good luck

to SMF!!! We're happy you found us!

One place to start is the "Search" bar at the top, just type in anything you want to learn about and you will find many helpful people who have posted about it. There is so much Great information on here but sometimes you have to do a little digging and the "Search" bar is a really good way to dig!
