Woohoo, it's so fast it arrived a day early.

Clearly, the British Racing Green Thermapen is the fastest. It arrived a full 24 hours ahead of schedule. Practically before I even knew I wanted to order it.

Here she is, sporting her protective silicone boot.

It was $69 on the open box special, plus $8 for the boot. Came in a box, not a blister pack, but appears to be brand new and has the warranty info and calibration cert. AND, they put a little bag of Jelly Bellies in the box too!!

Preliminary testing shows it to be pretty dead on accurate and lightning fast. I did notice that switching the sensitivity from 00.˚ to 00.0˚ added about a second to the read time as the tenths of a degree fluctuated a bit. No biggie, I can live with it. It'll still get in the ball park in under a second, and the last 2.5-3 seconds are spent zeroing in. Usually the change in the last couple seconds is 1.5˚ to 2˚.

Disclaimer: I have owned this for all of 10 minutes. So take my review with the grain of salt one should always afford those afflicted with  "kid with a new toy" syndrome.

Further testing and I'm convinced this thing is pretty fast and accurate. An ice bath test (glass full of ice cubes, water to within 1/2" of the top of the ice) gave me a reading of 32.4˚ within 4 seconds from a 79˚ room temperature. It was within .3˚ of its final reading with a little over a second. The boil test gave me a reading of 211.6˚ within 4 seconds. Again, it was within .3˚ within a little over a second from the same room temperature. We're on the 4th floor of an apartment building on one of the few "hills" in DC, so I'm guessing our elevation is under 150' above sea level, though I'll admit I don't know for sure.

Finally, the ice to boil test gave me a pretty consistent 5 seconds from 32.4˚ to 211.6˚ when quickly removing thermo from the ice bath and putting it into boiling water. All measurements of time were obtained using the international standard "one Mississippi, two Mississippi" method as recognized by 8 year olds the world over.

Yeah, I need one of these too... I got some chickens I need to poke.

If you don't mind me asking... Where did you order it from? The price you paid is like $20 cheaper than amazon.
Sorry Melissa, I just noticed your question in the bread thread. Hey, that rhymes!! Anyway, I got it directly from Thermoworks on their open box special. I'm not sure of it's still going on or not, but in any case, it's worth the price. Hell, it's worth twice the price. It's such a nice feeling to know the EXACT internal temperature of pretty much anything. Well, almost anything. I mean, not the dog, or your husband or anything. That might be bad.

Anyway, between my ET-732 and the Thermopen, I have no one to blame but myself if something isn't cooked right.

Hope you get one!!
