The smoke went great not the game.

My first smoke on new mes 40 with smoking kit from MB. I used #1 ven back strap and a #2.3 beef rump roast. Wanted to start small incase of problems.

Marinated both overnite in montreal steak marinade. Before putting in the smoker I rubbed some lawery's seasoning salt on to both cuts. I wanted to save the juices so I put seperate trays under ea. cut.

Started the cold smoke for 1.5hrs temp hovered at 40o.

Had nice full smoke inside smoker. (Need to enlarge vent)

oops!!

Raised my temps up slowly to reach 220o.

Pulled out the backstrap after reaching internal temp of 132o (4hrs)

Pulled beef at 155o (6hrs)

After the beefroast had its time to mello. I diced them up.

Resisting from taste test. I put each cut into its own broth of beef bullion and drippings.

My wife and a guest will not eat ven so I kept these all seperate.

The ven turned out perfect for me to enhail (yup I sampled).

The beef was excellent itself.

All in all was a great smoke.  Some temps along the way with the probes were not correct as I feered.

love this smoker thus far compared to my propane. Until next smoke!

Looks like a Fantastic Smoke Fuzzy...I'm with ya on the heartbreak of the Packer loss.

Keep us up to date on that masterbuilt smoke generator. I would like to know how it works out for you. Most guys here buy a Amazen smoke generator to upgrade the Masterbuilt smokers. Welcome to the site!!!

gotarace; I had read much about the amazen. I felt that it took up more space than what I wanted to give up. It sounds like most are very happy with it.

The smoke kit from MB worked ok. Felt it didn't smoke as well as I read from the web site. Blue smoke was hard to get. Can't say I would get the blue smoke using electric for generation. My gas smoker did about the same. The kit didn't smoke as long as was said, without some pimpin of the chips. I need to play with it some more. Thinking that I need to raise the chips from the burner some. May need to try different wood chips.

What I did like about the kit was that it didn't raise the temps up much. When smoking in warm temps it will allow me to put a longer vent on it to help cool the smoke. I had smoked in 35o temp and dropping. All in all am happy thus far.

Thanks for the input Fuzzy...i always like to hear about mods made to make our smokers better.
