I noticed that the master Forge Double Door smoker is ranked number one in the review section.  Is it that good of a smoker?  I've been waiting for the Masterbuilt XL to go on sale because I have to have it shipped to me.  There is an $18 extra charge on top of the regular shipping costs plus tax.  That puts it around $240 for me.  I know the master forge is smaller but I'm wondering if I should just go with that since I get it locally.  I do like the double door design.  Has anyone had any issues with temp control?  I would like the opportunity to do pizzas and other things during the summer so I don't heat up the kitchen.  Any issues that would prohibit me from doing that?  I guess I’m wondering if someone could really sell me on this smoker.

I have the gas version of this smoker and I have very few complaints. My only problems with temp control are my own bad habits of opening the dang thing up too much, and I smoked a pork butt last weekend, and I had some trouble getting the temp up in the colder weather. It hovered around 200-215 with an outside temp of about 40 degrees.

The doors do need to be sealed better, but overall, I like the thing. I use elastic cords to help seal the top door better. Outside of the limits due to size, I'm happy with it. How it actually ranks among other smokers, I can't help with. This was my first gas smoker. all of my other smokes have been ala indirect heat method on a charcoal chargriller bbq grill.

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/104113/master-forge-vertical-gasser-modsI have the MF double door gasser....for couple years now. Need some mods to help seal it up, temp control is harder with the thin construction of the unit. I've used some 3/4" styro building insulation on the back & front to try & keep temps up. Look at it as an entry level smoker to get your feet wet b4 popping bigger bucks on a unit in a lifestyle you might not wanna continue in. I got mine at Lowes for about $135 and am looking to invest in a better unit that will, hopefully, outlast me. If you can get a deal on it...go for it and have some fun....but more than likely you will outgrow it. The link above shows the mods I did early on.

I never cook for more than about 15 people so I'm wondering if this units big enough or if i need to go with something bigger like the master built.  I definitely want the gasser model.  I've seen good things online about it.  However, one person said they couldn't get theirs above 250.  That concerns me because I've heard that you should smoke turkeys around 350.  Could I even fit two turkeys in this thing?

LOL......I've had a 12 pounder turkey on the top shelf and believe you could stack another under it...it has 4 shelves. Temp is the issue though. My one turky was fine, browned up nicely but took 6 hours to hit 185 in the thigh at full throttle. I would venture to say I've never seen a guy on here wish he got the smaller unit....I'm just saying. http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/103692/smoked-turkey-in-the-master-forge-gasser-w-qview

I had a 20 pound bird in there on Thanksgiving! It took all day but we finally ate! As far as temp goes I had it between 225 and 250. I don't think I could get it up to 350 if I tried!
