I have a decision ahead of me. My budget is $150.00 and I need both a sausage stuffer and a vacuum sealer. Can anyone help me decide and provide information on either or both? I've been making about 10 to 15 pounds of sausage a month. I buy in bulk so a vacuum sealer would be very useful. What do YOU think. Thanks for helping.

SmoothSmoker, From what I’m reading, you are making sausage pretty regularly, so I would feel that you are using it pretty fast too. Even as you stated that you are buying in bulk, it just seems like you are using it in bulk too. So my vote would be to go with the sausage stuffer, it can and will make you sausage making experience so much easier…….ShoneyBoy

X2 Smoked sausage wrapped in ceran wrap and freezer paper does pretty well in the freezer.

ShoneBoy, Woodcutter and  Lingucia - thanks for your thoughts. I am leaning towards the stuffer. I've been using the grinder attachment and it's been a pain. But then after I've made all the sausage I freeze it and all the icicles form, I really don't want freezer burn on them so that's why the dilemma. Thanks again!

You shouldnt see any freezer burn on sausage up to 6 months...

Why not the stuffer this month and the sealer next?

Total for both is just a tad over your current limit.

Grizzly 5 lb. stuffer $84.95.

Foodsaver Vacuum Sealer $80.00

There's the solution! I have the Food Saver in the link and I really like it. I've done 2 mule deer and 2 elk with it. Bought it on clearance from Cabela's for $50 cause I didn't know if I would like it...best $50 spent IMHO.

I would have said vac sealer, but I agree with ShoneyBoys logic - I'd suggest the stuffer first. FYI, I burned out two vac sealers like the one in Martin's post, they both lasted 6 or 8 animals. (elk/moose/caribou/deer...) Now I have a commercial unit that has done about a dozen deer so far without a hiccup.
